Going on a camping trip on a busy holiday weekend can be nerve racking if you have not already booked a camping reservation with a campground. Most campgrounds are always full on busy holiday weekends. Most people who do not book a campground reservation are up for a steep challenge when trying to find a camping spot, especially when the campground has several amenities that includes a swimming pool. My advice is to book your camping reservation a month or two before the actual time frame you want to camp. By doing this, this will same you a lot of time from driving from campground to campground. Make sure these campgrounds specify what amenities they offer and make sure these amenities will cover your family camping needs. Once you have found a campground to do your holiday camping, you must make a camping reservation and make sure it is confirmed by the campground of your choice. After that you are all done. If you are looking to go on a family vacation that is low budget and entertaining, try visiting a campground in southern Illinois. Gas prices are rising and it is getting very expensive to travel overseas to those exotic vacation destinations. It is a lot cheaper to buy and recreational vehicle and travel around the United States and check out all the vacation spots in your own back yard. Having an recreational vehicle is very economical and your most expensive cost would be your fuel cost. This cost is a lot cheaper than flying to Hawaii or Cancun. When you travel to these places your round trip flight is expensive and so is the lodging. Eating in restaurants in these destinations can be expensive also. Campgrounds in southern Illinois are very nice parks to visit. There is one park I like most and that is the Benton Best Holiday Trav L Park in Whittington Illinois. This park is amazing. During the hot summer months the campground sites stay cool because the whole campground is shaded with beautiful trees. The pool is nice and cool which is good for the kids. They also have a wade pool for smaller kids. Their playground is very large and our kids loved it. This park is less than one mile from Rend Lake. Rend lake has a beautiful marina where you can rent a boat and go fishing for the day. Rend lake also has a area for hunting during the hunting season. Rend lake is a 19,000 acre state park that is full of things to do. Rend lake also has a championship golf course. The Benton Best Holiday Trav L Park is a perfect vacation destination because it is so close to so many things. There are many restaurants and a super Walmart center that is just five minutes away. This is the highest rated park in Illinois. This campground is best campground I have ever visited in the state of Illinois. I have visited many campgrounds in Illinois and this park was the best. This campground is open year round. This campground has big rig sites, 50 amp service, cable television with up to seventy channels, and wife internet.
